Heli-Skiing: The Ultimate in Ski Holidays
For the ultimate ski holiday experience, you just have to try out the new phenomenon of heli-skiing. You may well be familiar with the concept from a James Bond movie, but don’t worry it doesn’t necessarily involve actually jumping out of the helicopter to land right on the slope with your skis. That could become a very messy ending to your ski holiday indeed.
Rather, heli-skiing is more an extreme form of off-piste skiing. You can jump out of the helicopter if you wish (although it costs a lot more money and you may have more difficulty finding a heli-skiing operator who will let you do this), but it is more about finding that terrain that hasn’t yet been traversed on a hundred ski holidays.
A helicopter takes you to the other side of a mountain with a guide to take you down some possibly virgin territory that has never been skied on before. It really is quite a privilege and makes for a tremendously memorable ski holiday.
